Organic Gardening Supplies
Many people are starting to try and learn the skill of organic gardening because of all the
harsh chemicals that are being put in food these days. If you are among these people then I
congratulate you on a wise choice. Before you go off trying to start growing your own
organic garden however, there are some organic gardening supplies that you need.
If you are just starting out then you will need to find a good place to layout your new
organic garden. Try to pick some area with a little but of room if you are planning on
creating your own compost. By taking the time and planning out a good spot you will not be
caught with too little space once you get started.
The most common tool for any type of gardener and one that you will definitely need is a
spading fork. Spading forks are used to dig into the soil so that you can prepare it for
planting. You are also going to want to go out and purchase a good pair of gardening gloves
so that you can protect your hands when you are pulling those pesky weeds and rocks out of
your garden. If you are going to have a large organic garden then I would suggest buying a
garden hoe in order to take care of those bigger rocks and weeds that might try to get the
best of you.
After you have got your garden area laid out and the soil all soft and ready to be planted
in you are going to want to add a little something extra to it in order to make sure that
your new vegetables grow nice and healthy. Organic fertilizers such as mulch or compost
should be added to your garden about one month before you do any kind of planting. I know
you wanted to get started right away but try not to skip this step or your results will be
far less impressive! Go ahead and mix your choice of compost into the soil and let it sit
for a month.
Like I said above, do not skip this step! This is the most important step and
is what makes organic gardening different from traditional gardening because you are not
going to be using pesticides and other harsh chemicals to keep your garden safe. If you do
not use compost your garden will be the biggest hangout for all the little bugs in your
backyard!
You can find organic gardening supplies at almost any hardware store you visit. If you are
having a hard time locating the supplies then you can order them online as well.
